Kuma’s Review of Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus

I will confess something fight fans, Kuma sucks at most 2D fighters. I do not understand it at all and it frustrated me for a long time until Guilty Gear entered my life and my mind was blown. In my opinion it was one of the best fighting 2D fighters out there with an interesting story-line, great soundtrack and unique fighting styles for a weapon based game. There were a few weapons based 2D fighters before that, most known is Samurai Showdown. However Guilty Gear was just the better title for me. There were many sequels, but recently Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus is now available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox as a downloadable game. I kid you not gamers I did the Apache dance when I saw this on the screen, but does it live up to the original of 2007? Let’s find out shall we?

Good morning humans and monsters of all kinds. This is Kuma and I am back from a Florida vacation where I visited beautiful Florida, but now that I am back I am pleased to report some awesome news. The resurrection of Darkstalkers has been the talk of many fighting fans and congratulations we have a release date for the HD version coming out early 2013 for $14.99 on PSN and 1200 MSP Xbox Live marketplace. I know many of you noticed that we are getting a lot of HD remixed games and some are getting new titles, but I do hope that people enjoy these titles like I did when they first came out. In this post I will have a few things for you to enjoy, first off will be the announcement trailer, second will be a fact sheet displaying what will be packed into this remix as well as new features and last will be a nice bundle of screen shots for you to enjoy. This was an old classic fighting 2D fighter that came out on the PS2 and Dreamcast. This HD remake from Capcom will be released on August 21st on PSN for $19.99 and Xbox Live Arcade for 1600 points. If many of you do not know about JoJo, it started off as a Japanese manga and then was ported to a fighting game, also spawned an animated series as well. It will keep to its original fighting mechanics, but will have an upgraded look. I am noticing a lot of HD remakes lately and mostly from Capcom, so here is to hoping a Darkstalkers remake.

There is nothing to be said about this game, but wow. I was cracking up the whole time watching this trailer of Terry Cruz and Dolph Lundren beating the crap out of some dude I thought was the enemy, but as you can see there is a tripped out joke to this whole scenario. The great news is that is a four player co-op action packed video that looks to be a download on the Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game will feature all the characters from the movie and you will be able to pull off some signatures especially my boy Terry Cruz with the automatic shotgun baby! I am going to keep track for those that are interested and be sure to check out The Expendables 2 coming to theaters August 17th, stay frosty gamers!

I was a very young cub back in 1995 when I bugged my parents for a Sega Saturn and of course that Christmas season came out when Nights into Dreams special edition was announced with that prototype black dreamcast controller. Do you remember that? I have some fond memories playing that title and of course finding out that it is being remade in HD to come out as a digital download this fall for Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network Store and Windows…I just flipped out. The Saturn to me was a great system, I do not care what you have to say I definitely enjoyed many of the titles including Nights. I just remember it kind of being a new spin towards the Peter Pan in the way two kids get sucked into a dream world flying around and turning into Night himself, just battling nightmares. It was a beautiful artistic video game with interesting puzzles and epic boss fights. I can’t believe it was released 16 years ago…time sure does fly.

There was not much going on in the teaser to explain what you will be doing in Ascend: New Gods, but luckily I am that kind of gamer to do some digging. The game will feature a hack and slash dungeon crawler that will favor the style of Diablo series. When you start off you pick your champion and whatever alignment you choose will determine the God you will follow. There will be three alignments of Dark, Light and Void so pick and choose which one you want to deal with in the long run. In addition to this information apparently it is an online game that is not online. They pulled a Fable 2 by having other players are seen as ghost in the world where you can see them battle doing their own thing, but you will not be able to do a true co-op experience. It is a bit confusing because you will be able to heal, give items and even attack their enemies to help them out, but they will gain the loot and experience, however you will get rewarded some way. I am going to wait to get more information, but in the meantime enjoy the game-play footage below, stay frosty gamers.

E3 Preview of Zeno Clash II

I have to say that Atlus sure does know how to take interesting ideas and make them even weirder, but that is okay by me. This is the new teaser trailer to Zeno Clash II sequel to the award-winning indie first-person melee brawler, coming in 2013 to PC, Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®Network for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. There are not many first-person brawlers out there and most of them are successful, so I am anticipating what Atlus has to show.
