There are those who are willing to go above and beyond to settle their debts and then there are others that have no choice in the matter. However deep down everyone is looking for some form of salvation to handle their inner demons of past transgressions. This is the story of Booker DeWitt, who is a man down on his luck seeking a way out even if he has to go to the heavens to fight many that claim to be prophets, but reveal to be demons instead. This is Bioshock Infinite which is out now for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Is your faith that strong to bring freedom to your soul?
Now that you have watched the video, I will fill in any blanks that I might have missed. As many of you know Bioshock has always been an FPS adventure with eccentric scenarios. It captivates the gamer with amazing visuals and compelling plot twist and twist will throw you for a loop. I will be honest that I was not a huge fan of the series, but Infinite makes me a believer once again. It can be justified that infinite has revitalized the series.
It is all about customizing the best gear, weapons and vigors to handle all the oppositions of Bioshock Infinite. If you obtained the pre-order bonus and season pass; you already got a leg up on the game. The China Broom Comstock Shotgun and Golden Pistol are the best weapons to mow down the opposition at first. I would keep handy the Possession Vigor, as it turns your enemies into allies for a brief moment. The downside to possession if you do not upgrade is that it takes up too much out of your salt meter. In due time if you safe funds that you acquire from the world and Elizabeth, you will be able to do what you need. I also recommend “Return to Sender” which if pressed once puts up a shield, but if you hold the ability, it will capture all the damage sent at you. If you release, it pretty much sends it right back to them ten times over. I thought Murder Crows, Shock Jockey, Bucking Bronco, Devil’s Kiss, Charge and Undertow where also interesting, but didn’t keep me using them too often.
The enemies throughout the campaign go through different levels of annoyance which would force you to switch tactics often. That is a great thing because it always kept me on my toes, especially when my possession didn’t work on all enemies. The biggest adversaries are the Handyman, Tin-men, Boys of Silence and of course lady Comstock herself. The Handyman’s weakness is focused on their center piece as the Tin-men get the most of their damage from the gears in their backs. The creepy boys of silence seem to always escape death and pretty much alerts enemies to your location. There are those special humans that will use vigor, but I mostly ran into Devil’s kiss users, Shock Jockey users and Murder of crow users. The great part is Elizabeth has your back through the thickest and will provide you with ammo, money, salts and health when needed.
In terms of Elizabeth she is an amazing A.I. companion that has hardly been seen through the series. Being the main goal and a great help fighting through the city of Columbia was a magnificent treat. I truly did care about her getting into harm or when she was finally taken from me by that Song Bird. That being said, the song bird didn’t really do that much as it seemed it would be a major annoyance through the game, however it had a few interactions, but nothing big. It became handy after a while, but I rather not say too much.
I honestly do not have that many downsides to the game, because even though I beat it in a few days, I was satisfied with my adventure and looking forward to what the season pass will bring. I am just glad that I gave this game a shot and was treated with a great story, awesome combat and an amazing ending that left my jaw on lock the whole time. I literally had a tear it was that amazing.
Bioshock Infinite gets my BUY approval and if you have the PlayStation 3 version it will come with Bioshock 1 as a digital download. The game will also becoming out for Mac Os this summer, so stay glued for that information. It was a pleasure reviewing this title and I hope you all enjoyed. Stay frosty gamers!
