One Man Enters and Everyone Leaves Wondering, Thoughts on The Mad Max Preview

You know it is funny how we go from this.

To this…

I am from the 80’s and enjoyed the Mad Max series for many years, which to me was my impression of an Australian Punisher, if Marvel sent Punisher to Australia to train Max. This is coming from Avalanche, who as you all know did the Just Cause titles and it seems they want players to be more about their vehicles having a deadly personality vs. the character itself. This will be an open world title with many customize features to make your own ultimate death machine to deal with the wasteland. It seems to be all about the cars physics that will determine how you will combat enemies and that means you will have to learn how to tune your car to be a true gladiator of the roads. Now in my opinion I really want to tune up an Interceptor from the movies, but I know that is the same idea for many other gamers. However here are some vehicles I would want them to add into the game to customize.

  • 1967 Camaro Vengeance Street Fighter
  • chevy chevelle
  • 1972 Road Runner
  • Lazareth Wazuma V12
  • Nissan 300ZX

That is just a few of my choices that I would want added to the game, but you know how licensing works. The other features that have me pondering is the open world aspect outside of your vehicle and what sort of dangerous missions will they put you through. If you ever saw the movies of Mad Max, you know that currency is all about trading now with food, water, or fuel. This is the post-apocalyptic game setting and if that is the case, will we have to worry about our fuel often and what kind of situations will we end up in if we run out in the desert? Will that be a forced situation or will that be something we all will have to monitor ourselves? If you missed the teaser trailer, just hit play below.

Here is a few words from the developers:

“ Mad Max places gamers directly into the driver’s seat of their ultimate customized vehicle to battle it out in the action-packed, open world of The Wasteland,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production & Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We are very pleased to work with Avalanche Studios to provide a next generation gaming experience with robust fighting paired with dynamic vehicular combat.”

“Over a decade of creating open world experiences has led us to this point,” said Christofer Sundberg, Avalanche Studios Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. “The Wasteland lends itself incredibly well to the high level of player freedom with which Avalanche Studios has become synonymous. This unforgiving environment inspired us to create a gritty and diverse experience where driving, fighting and scavenging are essential for survival.”

In my last thought, I know that you might play the main campaign as Max, but they just announced on E3 conference that it will be set in the world of Max, not entirely from the movie or could be a video game sequel to the movies. If that is the case can we have the option of making our own Road Warrior? That would be pretty sway in my opinion, especially with the vehicle customization feature. However we have a while to worry about this title, but if you have any features or vehicles you would like to add to the mix, please feel free to comment. I would really enjoy your thoughts on this new title. Stay frosty gamers!
